Khalilur Rahman arrives in Delhi for CSC talks
Bangladesh’s National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman arrived in New Delhi ahead of schedule to participate in the Colombo Security Conclave conference. Indian National Security Council officials greeted Rahman at the airport, with the regional security forum set to convene at Hyderabad House.
The visit occurs as Bangladesh pursues the extradition of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who received a death sentence from the International Crimes Tribunal for crimes against humanity. Dhaka has formally requested her return under existing treaty provisions, though she remains in India after fleeing during mass protests. Rahman may address bilateral matters with his Indian counterpart, Ajit Doval, during consultations.
The trip represents only the second adviser-level visit from Bangladesh’s interim administration, following an energy sector official’s attendance at an industry event. Diplomatic tensions have emerged over Indian media access to Hasina, prompting Bangladesh to summon New Delhi’s deputy high commissioner.
