King Abdullah warns of Middle East doom without Palestinian state
In a BBC Panorama interview, Jordan’s King Abdullah II warned that the Middle East faces dire consequences without a peace process leading to a Palestinian state. He stressed that a two-state solution, with a sovereign Palestinian state alongside Israel, is the only viable path forward. King Abdullah, attending a summit in Egypt on President Trump’s peace plan, emphasized that without resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the region’s future remains bleak.
While Israel’s government rejects a two-state solution, King Abdullah remains hopeful, especially after discussions with Trump, who pledged to end the violence. He expressed distrust in Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu but believes peace is still possible through cooperation with other Israelis. The king acknowledged challenges ahead but remains committed to achieving peace for future generations.
