Kyaukme District Hospital reopens to serve local healthcare needs
Medical facilities in Kyaukme District resumed operations on Friday after health officials temporarily relocated services to a Chinese temple while rebuilding infrastr
ucture damaged during regional instability. The district general hospital began treating patients again in Shan State’s northern region, restoring access to care for surrounding communities.
Healthcare workers treated 3,385 people between Oct. 5 and Friday at a makeshift clinic inside the Labha Muni temple in Kyaukme Township. The Naungpeing station hospital had already restarted services on Oct. 20. Six rural health centers and township public health offices have reopened to deliver primary medical care throughout the area.
Medical teams conducted disease surveillance, maternal services, school health checks, and immunization drives across Kyaukme and neighboring villages. Special vaccination campaigns targeting children under 15 years old administered shots to 3,723 young people from Oct. 10 through Friday. The Ministry of Health continues working to expand healthcare coverage and restore essential medical services across the district.
