Malaysia eyes tougher school rules and social media limits after violence spikes
The government is looking at ways to improve safety in schools after recent violence. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the Cabinet discussed ideas like increasing police presence, allowing teachers to do regular checks, and raising the minimum age for social media to 16.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has asked for a special committee to study the issue. The government may also introduce an age verification system for social media use, similar to systems used for e-wallets. The government plans to discuss these measures with social media companies next week.
