Masoud Barzani reaffirms support for Kurdish unity in meeting with Syrian delegation
On Wednesday, President Masoud Barzani welcomed a high-level delegation from the Kurdish National Council in Syria (KNCS) in Pirmam, reaffirming his support for Kurdish unity and peaceful coexistence in Syria. The delegation, which included secretaries-general from all political parties within the council, discussed the political situation in Syria and the challenges faced by Kurds there.
Barzani emphasized the importance of Kurdish unity and called for stronger cooperation with all ethnic and religious communities in Syria. He also underscored the need for a federal and democratic Syria where Kurdish rights are recognized. The KNCS, founded in 2011, advocates for decentralization and the protection of Kurdish rights within Syria’s future.
This meeting follows Barzani’s ongoing efforts to promote peace and dialogue, including previous talks with Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) leaders. KNCS representatives praised Barzani for his unwavering commitment to Kurdish unity and for supporting Kurdish communities across all parts of Kurdistan. The council continues to seek a peaceful, decentralized Syria where Kurds can govern themselves and participate as equal partners in the country’s future.
