Microsoft to move Surface, Xbox production from China by 2026

Microsoft plans to stop making Surface laptops and Xbox consoles in China by 2026. The company wants to move production to other parts of Asia, likely Vietnam or India. This change is part of Microsoft’s effort to reduce its reliance on China and avoid supply chain problems.

Microsoft has already moved some of its server production out of China. The decision to shift Surface and Xbox production comes at a time of rising tension between the U.S. and China, with new export restrictions and tariffs making manufacturing outside of China more appealing.

Other tech companies, like Apple, are also moving production to countries like Vietnam to spread out their manufacturing. This helps protect them from political and supply chain issues.
