Minister slams illegal builds in Elenite
Regional Minister Ivan Ivanov visited Elenite and confirmed that serious construction violations had occurred in the coastal area. The National Construction Control Directorate issued findings documenting illegal building activity within the Drashtela riverbed. Property owners face a 14-day appeal window before authorities can proceed with demolition orders that may also be challenged through legal channels.
The ministry forwarded evidence to prosecutors requesting an investigation of officials who approved riverbed construction permits. Ivanov told reporters that displaced residents must pursue compensation claims against developers responsible for the unauthorized structures. Government agencies lack the authority to demolish privately owned infrastructure, such as roads and utility systems, at the site.
Officials provided emergency assistance and water supplies to affected Elenite residents following recent flooding. The minister noted that the casualty numbers would have been higher had the disaster struck while tourists were in the area. Construction inspectors continue examining building sites near watercourses along the Black Sea shoreline.
