Miraz defends taking home pitch edge

Bangladesh ODI captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz defended his team’s approach to preparing pitches that favor local players when hosting international matches. The all-rounder spoke at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday after his squad defeated West Indies 2-1 in their series. Miraz noted that visiting teams encounter similar advantages everywhere they compete and cited his experience playing in New Zealand as an example. He said Bangladesh would continue using favorable conditions for bilateral contests while recognizing that major tournaments require different preparation.

The skipper addressed questions about Mirpur surfaces that assisted spinners and produced low bounce against the West Indies. He explained that bilateral series demand home advantage, while World Cup preparation needs separate planning months ahead of the competition. Miraz said the team must concentrate on upcoming assignments rather than worrying about single pitch types. Bangladesh faces more home series and matches abroad before the next global tournament begins.
