Motorcycle race turns deadly, one dead, one hurt in crash

A 25-year-old man died and another person sustained serious injuries after motorcycles collided during an illegal street race in Sirajganj district on Sunday afternoon. Authorities identified the victim as Ruhan Uddin from Goyhatta village in Ullapara upazila.

The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. near Tetiarkanda along the Bogra-Nagarbari highway when participants were racing three bikes toward Baghabari, according to Md Ismail Hossain, who heads the Hatikumrul Highway Police Station. One rider lost control and struck another motorcycle before hitting a tree beside the road. Ruhan died at the scene while the second rider, identified only as Badsha, was rushed to a medical facility where he remains in critical condition.

Residents pulled Badsha from the wreckage and transported him for emergency care. Officers recovered Ruhan’s body and released it to relatives after no formal complaint was lodged. Police have opened an investigation into the incident.
