Mr Real blasts Afrobeats for rampant song theft

Okafor Uchenna Victor, better known as Mr Real, is furious about rampant intellectual property theft in Nigerian music. He blasted Afrobeats as a genre drowning in stolen ideas, with every hit song ripped off from someone else. He pointed the finger at the real victims—the struggling, unknown artists who get trampled by the system, their cries unheard because they don’t have the clout to fight back. And guess what? Even self-proclaimed whistleblowers like Blackface have been caught lifting tracks themselves.

Mr Real didn’t hold back when he talked about the Rema-Omah Lay mess, suggesting that if you’re not paying attention, even the biggest stars might swipe your work.
