Nepal PM Sushila Karki vows to hold elections by March 2026
Nepal’s Prime Minister Sushila Karki assured the international community on Friday that the interim government is committed to holding parliamentary elections within six months. She emphasized that the non-political government’s main task is to ensure free, fair, and impartial elections for the House of Representatives on March 5 next year.
Karki also called for international election observation, as it has previously helped maintain transparency. She addressed concerns raised by political leaders, assuring that the government is focused on creating a secure and fair environment for the polls. Karki also promised impartial investigations into corruption allegations against former Prime Ministers. Additionally, she sought international support for the reconstruction of infrastructure damaged during protests, which caused significant financial losses.
