Pakistan faces turmoil with border clashes, protests, and rising extremism

Pakistan is facing intense internal and external turmoil, according to a report from The Global Kashmir. The country is struggling with escalating tensions along its border with Afghanistan, protests in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), and growing religious unrest, revealing its weakening control on multiple fronts.

The situation worsened after Pakistan carried out airstrikes in Afghanistan, targeting Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) hideouts. Afghanistan retaliated, leading to heavy clashes at key border crossings. Meanwhile, in PoK, mass protests led by the Awami Action Committee have erupted, accusing Pakistan of exploiting local resources and denying basic rights. The protests were met with violent clashes and curfews, highlighting long-standing grievances.

Additionally, religious extremism is rising in major Pakistani cities. The Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), a radical religious group, organized protests that led to violent clashes with police, further destabilizing the country. These combined crises depict a nation struggling to maintain control, with a directionless foreign policy, an ailing economy, and deep internal divisions. Pakistan now stands isolated, divided, and wounded, facing a slow descent into disorder.
