Pan-African Parliament mourns loss of Raila Odinga

The Pan African Parliament (PAP) has mourned the passing of Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga, praising him as a champion for democracy in Africa. Odinga, aged 80, passed away in India on Wednesday while receiving treatment. PAP President Chief Charumbira described Odinga as a steadfast fighter for justice, democracy, and unity, emphasizing that his loss leaves Kenya and Africa poorer.

Chief Charumbira extended condolences to Odinga’s family, the Kenyan government, parliament, and the Kenyan delegation to PAP. He remembered Odinga as a resilient leader who symbolized hope for a better Kenya and Africa. Odinga was also praised for being a fearless voice for the voiceless, advocating for democracy, good governance, and human rights, ensuring the marginalized were heard. Chief Charumbira also commended Odinga’s efforts in promoting regional integration.
