Panayotova seeks answers on Terziev resignation call

Sofia Chief Architect Bogdana Panayotova stated she wants direct discussions with Mayor Vasil Terziev after he requested her resignation, noting she lacks evidence connecting his decision to specific motives despite encountering numerous competing interests. Panayotova told a television program that hospital treatment prevented earlier conversations and expressed confusion over the timing, given her longstanding support for creating a deputy mayor position focused on urban development.

The architect argued that the proposed structural changes would strip her office of legal authority over construction oversight, territorial planning approval, and design supervision. She submitted detailed objections to municipal council members, highlighting these concerns. Panayotova acknowledged halting several major developments and facing pressure from investors while maintaining commitments to transparency and public engagement.

Regarding newly appointed Deputy Mayor Lyubo Georgiev, Panayotova said she met him once and remains uncertain about his responsibilities or approach under the unclear organizational framework.
