Peskov defends BRICS, rejects Trump’s claims of anti-dollar agenda
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the BRICS group promotes cooperation for prosperity and stability, not confrontation with other nations or currencies. He made this remark in response to US President Donald Trump’s claim that countries were leaving BRICS to avoid potential tariffs and sanctions.
Peskov denied Trump’s accusation that BRICS is targeting the US dollar, saying the group has never planned actions against any third country or its currency. He emphasized that BRICS operates on principles of partnership, prosperity, and predictability. Peskov also noted there is no information suggesting that any BRICS members are reconsidering their participation due to US pressure.
BRICS, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and others, advocates for the use of national currencies in trade, not seeking to undermine the US dollar.
