PM Modi launches Rs 42,000 crore agri projects

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated projects worth Rs 42,000 crore aimed at transforming India’s agricultural and allied sectors. This includes the launch of two major schemes: the PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, with a combined outlay of Rs 35,440 crore. Additionally, over Rs 5,450 crore in projects across agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and food processing were rolled out, along with new projects worth Rs 815 crore.

PM Modi highlighted the critical role farmers play in making India a developed nation. He praised the growth of the agricultural sector in the last 11 years, noting that agricultural exports have nearly doubled, grain production has risen by 900 lakh metric tonnes, and India is now the top producer of milk. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of diversifying crops and increasing pulses production to reduce import dependency.

Key projects included artificial insemination training centers, IVF labs, and milk powder plants, as well as a fish feed plant under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. The event also celebrated achievements in farmer empowerment, with 50 lakh farmers joining 10,000 Farmer Producer Organisations, 1,100 of which saw an annual turnover of over Rs 1 crore in 2024-25.
