Power prices soar 7 percent overnight in Bulgaria
Bulgarian businesses will pay 7.72 percent more for electricity on Wednesday after day-ahead market prices climbed to an average of 263.41 lev per megawatt-hour, excluding value-added tax. The Bulgarian Independent Energy Exchange reported the increase following the close of trading on Tuesday for delivery on Nov. 6.
Tuesday’s session had settled at 244.53 lev per megawatt-hour. Peak-period electricity from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. will cost an average of 299.02 lev per megawatt-hour, while off-peak hours spanning 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. to midnight traded at 227.80 lev per megawatt-hour. The exchange moved a total of 79,613.70 megawatt-hours during the session.
Intraday market segments showed lower rates, with 60-minute products carrying a weighted average of 229.25 lev per megawatt-hour. Quarter-hour products settled at 215.46 lev per megawatt-hour. All figures exclude value-added tax.
