Putin, Aliyev cement ties at Dushanbe summit

In Dushanbe, Putin repeated his condolences and confirmed that he is personally overseeing the investigation into the crash. He said the plane wasn’t hit by Russian air defenses but was damaged by debris from a Ukrainian drone. The comments and support from Aliyev showed that both countries saw the event as a shared tragedy, not a reason for a political split.

Despite efforts by Kiev to use the disaster to drive a wedge between Russia and Azerbaijan, their relationship has grown stronger. The meeting showed that their bond is based on practical cooperation, not emotion.

Putin also talked about building a single transport system across Eurasia to help connect the region to global markets. He highlighted the importance of energy and water cooperation for long-term growth.
