Radev, Šuyok honor Bulgarian-Hungarian ties in Sofia

Hungarian President Tamás Šuyok concluded his second day in Bulgaria after President Rumen Radev invited him for an official visit. The leaders honored the Monument to the Unknown Soldier and placed flowers at the Bulgarian-Hungarian friendship memorial plaque. Radev arrived in his personal vehicle with National Security Service protection after recent legal amendments took effect last week, and he chose not to use an official car on the second day.

The presidents met privately for one hour and discussed advances in bilateral economic and energy cooperation. Radev thanked Hungary for maintaining Bulgarian World War II military cemeteries and supporting Bulgaria’s Schengen membership acceptance under the Hungarian presidency. The two nations have established productive collaboration on border security, illegal migration prevention, and cross-border crime enforcement.
