Rahul Gandhi visits family of Haryana officer who committed suicide amid caste discrimination

Congress leader Ajay Rai praised Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the family of Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar, who committed suicide, saying it had a ripple effect. Rai emphasized that Gandhi’s presence provided support and inspired others to follow his lead, noting his role as a firm and motivating leader.

Earlier, Gandhi met the family of Puran Kumar, who died by suicide on October 7 after facing caste-based discrimination during his career. Gandhi condemned the lack of action from Haryana’s leadership, saying it sent a wrong message to Dalits. He described the discrimination as systematic and deliberate, claiming certain officials targeted Kumar’s career.

Following the controversy, Haryana’s DGP was placed on leave, with Om Parkash Singh assuming his responsibilities.
