Russian strikes hit Kharkiv hospital as Zelenskyy seeks US military aid

Russian forces hit Kharkiv with glide bombs and drones overnight, damaging a hospital and injuring seven people, local officials said Tuesday. The attack also forced the evacuation of 50 patients. The main targets were energy facilities, as Russia’s long-range strikes continue to hit power plants and gas infrastructure across Ukraine, Zelenskyy said.

As Zelenskyy prepares to meet with Trump in Washington, he’s pushing for more air defense help from the U.S. and Europe to protect Ukraine from these relentless Russian strikes. The focus of talks will be on long-range weapons like Tomahawk missiles, which could give Ukraine more power to strike back. Such a move would escalate tensions with Russia but might bring Moscow to the negotiating table, Zelenskyy hopes.
