Ruto to resume Ukambani tour in two weeks
President William Ruto will return to Kitui County in two weeks to complete a development tour interrupted by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s funeral. The head of state postponed the five-day Ukambani visit that was set to begin on Oct. 15 after Odinga died in India. Ruto told residents at Ithookwe Stadium on Sunday that he remains committed to addressing regional marginalization through infrastructure investments.
The original schedule included road launches in Mwingi West, Kitui East, and Kangundo, as well as housing project openings in Kitui and Wote. Officials will release updated travel plans as Ruto prepares to inspect water facilities, market projects, and the renovated Ithookwe Stadium. The administration plans to expand the tour beyond Kitui to cover Makueni and Machakos counties.
