Governor Simba Arati backs Ruto’s ODM push in Kisii

Kisii Governor Simba Arati praised President William Ruto on Mashujaa Day for his efforts to strengthen the Orange Democratic Movement before the 2027 elections. The governor, who serves as ODM’s deputy party leader, suggested Ruto should register as a member to help fulfill former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s vision of building a robust party for better service delivery. Arati announced ODM plans to field a presidential candidate to either form the next government or join a winning coalition.

Kisii County Commissioner Joseph Kibet expressed concern about low voter registration numbers and urged eligible residents to register before the deadline. Kibet warned drug traffickers and illicit brew producers that authorities would enforce the law strictly against them. Residents observed a moment of silence for the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as the national flag flew at half-mast per presidential directive.

Arati described Raila as a visionary leader and democracy champion whose dedication to justice and unity left a permanent mark on the nation’s history. The governor said ODM would continue advancing the late leader’s vision for national unity.
