Salim Merchant praises Kashmiri culture

Salim Merchant praised Kashmir’s cultural heritage after performing with his brother Sulaiman and vocalist Noor Mohammad at a recent concert. The composer posted photographs on Friday showing the trio wearing traditional Kashmiri attire while promoting their YouTube video AWAAZ. Merchant emphasized his appreciation for the region’s musical traditions and artistic expressions that continue to influence creators worldwide.

The musician celebrated Diwali at Times Square in New York, where his collaboration Jogiya with Sonu Nigam appeared on digital billboards. The Merchant brothers launched their annual Bhoomi music series featuring diverse Indian genres and emerging artists. Sulaiman announced plans to explore Malayalam and Tamil compositions while incorporating sounds from northeastern states like Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland in future releases.
