Sofekostroy steps in as Lyulin trash piles up

Sofia’s Deputy Mayor for Ecology, Nadezhda Bobcheva, announced that the Sofekostroy company is expected to begin waste management services in the Lyulin district shortly. She explained that the municipal vision involves assigning the entire Zone 6, which includes the Lyulin, Krasna Polyana, and Krasno Selo districts, to this contractor.

Regarding other areas, Bobcheva stated that the municipality is awaiting a decision from the Commission for the Protection of Competition concerning Zone 4. A request has been submitted to allow a pre-selected contractor to begin work there despite an ongoing appeal. For a third zone, encompassing the Poduyane, Izgrev, and Slatina districts, she noted that active discussions with local mayors are underway to prepare a potential crisis management plan.
