Sofia teen stabbed in mall, family demands adult trial for suspect

Relatives of 15-year-old Krasimir, who died after being stabbed at a Sofia mall on Sunday, demanded severe punishment for the suspect. The victim’s mother, Nadezhda, said her son lay bleeding for 20 minutes without assistance before a stranger transported him to Pirogov hospital. She stated that no ambulance arrived at the scene, and mall security failed to intervene or provide first aid.

Police detained the 15-year-old suspect, identified as Gogi, on Monday after he made a full confession. Authorities said the suspect has a previous criminal record. Family members rejected claims that a romantic dispute caused the violence, but acknowledged prior threats between the boys. They insisted the families had no previous conflict.

Relatives called for the suspect to face trial as an adult rather than receive a lighter juvenile sentence. Nadezhda described her son as harmless and said the prosecutor’s office ordered an autopsy. Witnesses demanded increased police presence in shopping centers, metal detectors, and public demonstrations if authorities fail to implement safety measures.
