Sri Lankan PM praises Modi’s policy at NDTV Summit

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya delivered a moving keynote at the NDTV World Summit 2025, praising India’s “Neighbourhood First” policy and its support during Sri Lanka’s 2022 economic crisis. Reflecting on the country’s recovery, she thanked India for providing over $4 billion in aid, helping stabilize Sri Lanka during its darkest hour. She highlighted the progress made since then, including a drop in inflation, GDP growth, and improved foreign reserves.

Amarasuriya also emphasized the importance of digitization in Sri Lanka’s renewal, mentioning plans for blockchain and AI-driven systems. Recalling her years as a student in Delhi, she acknowledged India’s transformation into a dynamic, diverse nation. Her leadership, shaped by both academic and political experiences, aims to create compassionate coalitions for regional growth and renewal.
