Supreme Court lifts Diwali firecracker ban in Delhi

Hold on to your hats, because the Supreme Court just gave the green light for Delhi to light up with firecrackers, but only for a few days. Diwali revelers, rejoice – the court’s blessing allows bursting and selling of “green crackers” from October 18 to 21. But don’t think you can get away with chaos; there are patrolling teams checking up on this, and you’ll only see certified crackers with QR codes. Better hope you don’t get caught, because the court made it clear: violate the rules, and you’ll be facing the music.

A few weeks ago, the court shot down any ideas of letting loose on crackers for longer, saying air pollution levels had stayed dangerously high. You thought the ban was harsh before? Wait till you hear this: a full-on crackdown is in place with no e-commerce sales allowed, making it harder than ever to get your hands on them. Will it make a difference? Who knows, but it’s sure gonna be a spectacle!
