Three get organs after Uni Hospital donation

Three individuals have received life-saving organ transplants due to a donation from a 45-year-old man. The donor process was coordinated by Dr. Alexey Leshtansky and a team from Uni Hospital in Panagyurishte.

A transplant team from the Military Medical Academy performed the procedures. A 38-year-old man successfully received a liver transplant under the direction of Professors Vasil Mihaylov and Ivelin Takorov. In a first for the academy, a separate team led by Professor Iliya Saltyrov transplanted kidneys to a 42-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man. All recipients are reported to be in good condition and are under intensive medical supervision.

The Ministry of Health and the Executive Agency for Medical Supervision expressed profound gratitude to the donor’s family for their noble decision during a difficult time, as well as to the medical teams involved.
