Trump, Putin revive US-Russia talks after Alaska summit
The meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska started a new dialogue between the two countries. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said both countries can still do a lot based on the talks between the two leaders. Lavrov explained that Putin went to Alaska in response to a proposal from Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff. Putin agreed to the proposal and suggested a plan for it.
Lavrov mentioned that Russia is waiting for a reply from the US. He also praised Trump for trying to understand the reasons behind the Ukraine conflict. Lavrov said that new US plans to send missiles to Ukraine won’t change what was discussed in Alaska.
