Ursula Owusu-Ekuful bids for NPP general secretary
Former Communications Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful announced her candidacy for General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party. The ex-lawmaker for Ablekuma West stated the opposition party requires a proven leader to mobilize supporters ahead of the 2028 elections.
Owusu-Ekuful made the announcement on Monday, on her 61st birthday, through social media. She called on party members to support her campaign to rebuild the NPP and challenge what she described as an incompetent government.
The former minister emphasized the party must reorganize to offer Ghanaians meaningful alternatives by 2028. She said the NPP needs to restore public confidence in its ability to deliver growth.
Owusu-Ekuful joins former lawmakers Sylvester Tetteh and Eugene Boakye Antwi in seeking the General Secretary position. The three candidates represent a competitive field for the party leadership role.
