Violent clashes in Dhaka leave 10 injured ahead of July Charter signing
Violent clashes erupted on Friday afternoon in Dhaka, Bangladesh, between law enforcers and protesters identifying as “July Warriors” at the Parliament premises. At least 10 people were injured during the violence, and they are currently receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The protesters, including victims of the July Uprising and families of the deceased, were demanding official recognition, legal protection, and rehabilitation for their roles in the July movement. The demonstration turned violent when police intervened, using batons and sound grenades to disperse the crowd. In retaliation, protesters vandalized police vehicles, set fire to temporary structures, and issued threats to the interim government. Security forces, including the Army and Rapid Action Battalion, were deployed to control the situation.
