Water supply disruption affects 34,747 residents, improved from previous week
As of October 13, 2025, 34,747 residents are affected by a disrupted water supply, a significant decrease from the 114,391 people impacted the previous week. This disruption now affects 0.7% of the total population served by the 26 water supply companies under “Bulgarian Water Supply and Sewerage Holding” EAD.
Three cities—Breznik, Radomir, and Omurtag—remain in the water supply regime, with the number of affected villages dropping from 260 to 88. The number of municipalities with water disruptions has also halved, from 72 to 36.
The operators continue to focus on reducing water losses, replacing infrastructure, managing water pressure, and addressing illegal connections to ensure quality service despite global climate challenges.
