Wike to meet IGP over demolition of police duplexes in Abuja

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, said he will meet with Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun over the demolition of illegal duplexes at Apo Dutse District, Abuja. The structures were built under a high-tension power line, despite warnings and the denial of approval by the FCT Department of Development Control. Wike explained that the Nigerian Police Force owned the land, but development approval was denied due to safety risks. The buildings were demolished on Thursday, and FCT staff were arrested by the police. Wike plans to discuss the matter with the IGP, stating that breaking the rules cannot be allowed.
