Women’s Coalition calls for girl child empowerment in Zimbabwe

The Women’s Coalition of Zimbabwe called for better support and care for girls. They said girls face more challenges than boys, especially in times of crisis. Mrs. Muchanyara Cythia Mukamuri explained that girls need decent homes, sanitary items, and protection from abuse. The Girl Child Cluster was created to help girls grow in safe spaces.

Mrs. Lydia Madyirapanze from FAWEZI said young women are often ignored and lack resources. They play important roles during disasters and should be given better education. UNICEF’s Mrs. Janneke Bienert agreed, saying girls should lead the way for equality.

Reverend Taylor Nyanhete said boys should also be educated about respect to stop abuse and violence. Both boys and girls need to be included in efforts for a better society.
