Xolani Ncube gets 25 years for snooker ball killing in Filabusi

A Filabusi man received a 25-year prison term for fatally shooting someone over a disputed snooker ball. Xolani Ncube killed the victim on April 24, 2024, after suspecting him of taking his snooker ball. The victim went to Ncube’s residence to apologize and offer a replacement, but Ncube shot him dead.

Ncube claimed armed robbers attacked his home, and he fired in self-defense. Police found no weapons at the scene, and witnesses contradicted his account. Justice Ngoni Nduna rejected the robbery defense and ruled that Ncube killed the man without allowing a peaceful resolution. The court determined Ncube acted with lethal intent rather than legitimate self-protection.
