CBZ Bank embraces Afreximbank’s ATG platform in Harare

CBZ Bank views the African Export-Import Bank’s Africa Trade Gateway platform as central to its strategy for reshaping trade finance in Zimbabwe. The digital system launched in 2023 to boost intra-African commerce under the African Continental Free Trade Agreement by consolidating five platforms into one interface. Phibeon Mutibura from CBZ corporate banking told attendees at a Harare breakfast meeting on Tuesday that the gateway digitizes trade documentation, compliance verification, and payment settlement while cutting manual work and mistakes. The platform links businesses across Africa’s 1.4 billion-person market worth more than 3 trillion dollars, and it addresses fragmented markets, steep transaction costs, and restricted trade finance access that have hindered continental commerce.
