Zimbabwe, China urged to boost women empowerment for African change
Zimbabwe and China should strengthen their collaboration to promote women’s empowerment, as women are central to driving positive change in Africa, according to Women’s Affairs Minister Monica Mutsvangwa. In an interview with CGTN during the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women in Beijing, Minister Mutsvangwa commended China’s role in advancing global gender equality and supporting women through collaboration and shared learning.
She highlighted that African women are not just recipients of support but are the backbone of change, ready to take on new opportunities and lead transformative efforts. She also emphasized the importance of addressing the disproportionate impact of climate change on women, advocating for education in digital skills, e-commerce, and market access.
Minister Mutsvangwa further noted that women are key to Zimbabwe’s growth, stating that empowering women means empowering families, communities, and the nation as a whole. She stressed that women’s empowerment is crucial for achieving Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 and contributing to the nation’s development goals.
