Man accused in Joseph Mutangadura murder, robbery case

A man, Given Mandizadza (39), appeared in court yesterday facing multiple charges related to the robbery and murder of businessman Joseph Mutangadura. He was charged with armed robbery, murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and illegal possession of explosives. Mandizadza is jointly charged with Philemon Anesu Machadu (33) regarding the firearm and explosives charges.

The crime occurred on August 17 at Mutangadura’s Hideout Farm. Security guard Mr. Kadiwa was attacked by the suspects, who tied him up and broke into the house. They shot and killed Joseph Mutangadura, then ransacked the home. The suspects left Mr. Kadiwa and 14-year-old Ryan Mutangadura to witness the aftermath.

Mandizadza and Machadu were arrested on October 15, with firearms and explosives found in their vehicle. They failed to show valid licenses for the weapons. The case has attracted significant attention due to the nature of the crime and the victim’s high profile. Mandizadza is expected to apply for bail at the High Court and return to court on November 6.
