100 Maoists defect in Chhattisgarh surrender wave
In a big win against Maoist rebels in Chhattisgarh, over 100 Maoists are expected to surrender in Kanker. This follows a large surrender in the area, showing that government actions and police work are weakening the Naxalite forces. A senior officer said that the exact details will be shared soon after the process is complete. Kanker has become a key area for more defections, with a recent event marking one of the largest surrenders in the state’s history.
Raju Salam, a top Naxalite leader, and his team gave up their weapons in Kanker. Several other Maoists, including women with large rewards on their heads, also surrendered. This has brought relief to local authorities and security forces. The success of the operation is seen as a result of good policies and strong teamwork.
