India’s DRDO parachute system hits 32,000 feet milestone

The Military Combat Parachute System (MCPS), created by DRDO, successfully completed a combat free-fall jump from 32,000 feet, the Ministry of Defence announced. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised DRDO, the Armed Forces, and industry for the achievement, calling it a key milestone. The jump was carried out by Indian Air Force test jumpers, proving the system’s reliability and advanced design. The MCPS is the only parachute in India capable of being used above 25,000 feet.

Developed by DRDO labs in Agra and Bengaluru, the MCPS offers improved descent control, better steering, and precise navigation for safe landings. It also works with Indian satellite navigation, ensuring security from external interference. This success marks a step towards self-reliance in parachute systems.
