16 dead in fire at factory and chemical warehouse in Mirpur

At least 16 bodies were pulled from a massive fire at a garment factory and chemical warehouse in Mirpur on Tuesday. Firefighters believe an explosion at the chemical warehouse spread toxic smoke, knocking people out cold before they could run. The fire went full blast fast, leaving no chance to escape.

Workers couldn’t get out either—two padlocks were slammed on the roof door, trapping them inside. Turns out, the factory and warehouse didn’t even have fire safety certificates, showing major safety slip-ups. Authorities are worried the death toll could climb as they keep digging through the wreckage.
