258 Naxalites surrender in Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that 258 Naxalites have surrendered in Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra over the past two days. Shah shared the news on his official X handle, calling it a significant step in dismantling Naxalism and helping former extremists reintegrate into society.

Of the 258, 170 Naxalites surrendered in Chhattisgarh, while 61 gave up in Maharashtra. Shah praised their decision to embrace peace and credited the success to the government’s efforts under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, declaring that Naxalism is nearing its end.

Shah reiterated that the government welcomes those who want to surrender but will take tough action against those who continue violence. The mass surrenders reflect growing disillusionment within the Naxalite groups and are seen as a key moment in India’s fight against Maoist insurgency.
