27 Maoists surrender in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma, a major blow to CPI(Maoist)

In a significant step toward combating left-wing extremism, 27 active Maoists surrendered to security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Wednesday. Among those surrendering were two senior cadres from the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA), a feared wing of the banned CPI (Maoist). The total reward value for the surrendered group amounts to Rs 50 lakh.

The surrender is linked to the success of the Chhattisgarh Navsankalp Surrender Policy and the Niyat Nella Nar scheme, which focus on rehabilitation. This move is expected to encourage other Maoists to defect, especially in the southern districts of Chhattisgarh. The surrendered individuals will undergo the state’s rehabilitation process, aiming to reintegrate them into society and weaken Maoist operations.
