ACA honours Mithali Raj and Raavi Kalpana with stadium tributes
The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) paid a heartfelt tribute to two of the state’s cricketing legends, Mithali Raj and Raavi Kalpana, by naming a stand and a gate in their honor at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. The ceremony took place on Sunday, just before India’s Women’s ODI World Cup match against Australia.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah praised the gesture, calling it a fitting tribute to Mithali Raj’s legacy and a boost for women’s cricket. The event was attended by prominent figures, including Nara Lokesh, ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta, and BCCI officials. Mithali, the leading run-scorer in women’s international cricket, expressed her gratitude for the honor, acknowledging the special place Vizag holds in her career.
Raavi Kalpana, humbled by the recognition alongside her captain, thanked the Andhra Government and ACA, expressing her pride in being part of this moment.
