AEK Larnaca upset Crystal Palace 1-0

Riad Bajic delivered the decisive goal as AEK Larnaca defeated Crystal Palace 1-0 in Conference League action on Thursday. The Bosnia and Hercegovina forward struck after 51 minutes to lift the Cypriot squad into second position behind Fiorentina after two rounds of competition. Palace fell to 18th place following their first European home defeat at Selhurst Park.

Jean-Philippe Mateta came close twice for the hosts before halftime when his shot struck the crossbar and his header missed the target. Coach Oliver Glasner acknowledged that minor errors led to punishment at this level of competition. The German manager expressed disappointment but noted his team performed adequately in their second match.

AEK Athens demolished Aberdeen 6-0 as Mauritania striker Aboubakary Koita scored twice. The Scottish club suffered its worst European result since entering continental tournaments in 1967. Andrei Ratiu equalized for Rayo Vallecano in the 103rd minute against Hacken for a 2-2 draw. Weather forced officials to suspend the Sparta Prague match at Rijeka.
