Alaska Airlines grounds flights after outage
Alaska Airlines stopped all departures on Thursday evening after computer systems failed across its network. The Seattle-based carrier told travelers to verify their flight information before heading to airports. The company posted updates through social media while technicians worked to fix the problem affecting operations.
The airline moves passengers through more than 1,200 daily flights to destinations in the United States, Mexico, Canada and Costa Rica. Alaska Airlines ranks as the nation’s fifth largest carrier with major operations at airports in Anchorage, Los Angeles, Portland, San Diego and San Francisco. Officials did not say what caused the technology breakdown or when normal service would resume.
