Archery football clash looms over Dhaka venue
Bangladesh faces a scheduling conflict as two international sporting events overlap at the National Stadium in Dhaka. The Asian Archery Championship runs from Nov. 8 through 14, with finals scheduled for the morning of Nov. 13. The Bangladesh Football Federation plans to host Afghanistan that same evening as preparation for an Asian Cup qualifier against India on Nov. 18. More than 30 countries confirmed participation in the archery competition after the National Sports Council approved the continental tournament.
Tanvir Ahmed from the archery federation said organizers cannot alter their timeline because the Asian body has already sanctioned the venue. Security arrangements and technical preparations for the event are at advanced stages. Football federation official Golam Gaus indicated willingness to negotiate dates between Nov. 12 and 14 for the match. The sports council began talks with both organizations to prevent disruption to either competition at the shared facility.
