Bangladesh to introduce new pay scale for teachers soon

Education Secretary Rehana Parven announced that a new national pay scale for teachers will be introduced soon to address ongoing issues with salaries and housing allowances. The ministry has already sent a formal letter to the Ministry of Finance in response to teachers’ demands.

Rehana assured that the pay scale would be finalized soon and that progress is being made, though it will take some time. She emphasized the government’s efforts to support teachers within financial constraints and expressed hope that solutions would come through dialogue.

Education Adviser CR Abrar mentioned that a 5% increase in housing allowance for MPO-listed teachers is being discussed. He also highlighted that teacher organizations proposed a 20% increase in housing allowance, but adjustments would depend on the government’s budget.
