Barzani vows unity, peace before elections

Kurdistan Democratic Party leader Masoud Barzani told Duhok residents on Wednesday that his movement has championed elections since the 1991 uprising and will work with coalition partners to form Iraq’s next government quickly. He addressed regional officials ahead of parliamentary voting for the sixth legislative session.

Barzani said full enforcement of Iraq’s constitution would solve persistent disputes between Baghdad and Erbil. The president highlighted roads and tourism as areas where his party delivered gains while leading regional authorities.

Water storage through dams and reservoirs must expand to protect future supplies, Barzani told the gathering. He praised cooperation between ethnic and religious communities as essential to Kurdistan’s character.

The KDP chair asked political groups to run peaceful campaigns without hostility. He thanked Kurdish citizens for enduring salary cuts and financial restrictions imposed by federal ministries.
